Dental gold is rarely 100% pure gold. While the majority of dental scrap value comes from the gold content, precious metals are mixed in to increase strength and durability. Up to 30% of your dental gold could consist of platinum, palladium and silver. Most gold buyers pay only for the gold content (offering you nothing for the other metals). How does scrap dental gold get refined?

The refining process can be difficult, so many dentists (and patients!) turn to Canada Gold’s highly trained staff and state of the art equipment to recycle their scrap gold. Our testing and measuring process has been independently verified by Measurement Canada and is as follows:

• The material is weighed, characterized, and logged into our system
• The precious metals are dissolved and separated using state of the art methods
• Each metal (in its pure form) is weighed to determine its value
• A detailed report is written for the customer describing the actual quantities of the precious metal recovered and current market metal prices

How much is my dental gold worth?

Is there a minimum quantity I need to bring in?

No. If you don’t have enough material to make up a refining lot (typically 400g) we can purchase smaller amounts on-the-spot in our offices.
